History
Edison-Ford Winter Home and Laboratory (Fort Myers) - The Edison home, located adjacent to the winter home of Henry Ford, features the inventor’s laboratory and botanical gardens. Henry Ford bought the property next to the Edison’s and visitors can tour the home of the world’s first billionaire as well as the Edison home.
Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday, 9:00am to 4:00pm, Sunday 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Closed Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Sanibel Historical Museum and Village Inc. (Sanibel) - This collection of late 19th- and early 20th-century buildings brings early Sanibel back to life in a beautifully serene setting. The village is dedicated to the pioneer families of Sanibel Island and Captiva Island. All of the buildings are furnished with items from the early 1900s.
Donations of $5 per adult are welcomed. Admission for children is free.
Hours of Operation: Open November through mid-August, Wednesday through Saturday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, although summer hours may vary. Closed mid-August through October. From Resort: 11.79 miles and approximately 24 minutes

Burroughs Home (Fort Myers) - Guided tours of this turn of the century home, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, are available.
Hours of Operation: Tuesday - Friday for scheduled tours; closed Monday; Saturday - Sunday are reserved for parties.

Nature & Family Fun
J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife
Refuge (Sanibel) - This preserve is 2,825 acres of the 6,300-acre refuge that has been designated as Wilderness Area. The refuge is open every day except Friday. The entrance fee is $5 per automobile, or $1 per pedestrian/cyclist, and is payable via the honor system.
Hours of Operation: Opens daily beginning 30 minutes after sunrise and closes 30 minutes before sunset Sunday -Thursday.

The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum (Sanibel) - This non-profit museum features more than 30 exhibits of mollusks from around the world. Exhibits are devoted to shell history and habitat, rare specimens, fossils, Southwest Florida shells, and more. The learning lab features a hands-on play area for children.
Hours of Operation: Daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Imaginarium Hands-On Museum &
Aquarium (Fort Myers) - The Imaginarium is a hands-on science and nature-based museum providing visitors with over 60 interactive exhibits including a theater, a traveling exhibit, live animals and ongoing special programs. Admission for Adults is $8; Seniors (55+) $7; Children (ages 3-12) $5; Children under 3 are free.
