Sanibel Sea School Programming to Return July 13

July 10, 2020

We are thrilled to announce that Sanibel Sea School is returning some of its programs at South Seas Island Resort, beginning July 13th, 2020. Read on for class information, times, and class pricing!

Sanibel Sea School

Come and enjoy the best part of your vacation and perhaps one of the best experiences you’ve ever had! Our day courses have space for up to 9 students. Our classes have a different theme each day that we will explore – there will be crabbing, rock flipping, and traipsing through mangrove muck. We’re going to learn about our favorite sea creatures like dolphins and sea turtles and of course, we do all this exploring outdoors on beautiful South Seas Island Resort. Make sure students have a face covering with them. If we have to go inside or are not able to maintain social distance outside – we require a face covering. We recommend buffs but have disposable masks if needed.

What to Bring

  • – Swimsuit
  • – Sunblock (we ask that you do not bring sunblock in a spray bottle – it gets in eyes, can ruin equipment and clothing, and isn’t great for the environment)
  • – Hat
  • – Wading shoes*
  • – Bug repellent
  • – Towel
  • – A bag for shells or fossils, if you’d like
  • – Jacket if you easily get chilled in a light wind
  • – Reusable water bottle
  • – Face Covering

Weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
8:30 am-11:30 am
Ages 6-13, $55/session
Meet at Main Pool Towel Stand (Registration Mandatory).
Please call (239) 910-7166 or visit the Pool Towel Stand to register by 5 pm previous day

*Flip-flops and slip-on sandals are not great shoes for wading, because they often fall off in the water. We recommend shoes that are specifically designed to get wet, with a heel and toe that fit snugly over the foot.

Discover Beachcombing

South Seas Island Resort offers world-class beachcombing, birding, and wildlife watching opportunities. There is so much waiting to be discovered here! Join our knowledgeable marine science educators for a casual guided beach walk to explore what’s washed ashore. We will talk about some of the more mysterious objects we find on the beach, look for interesting animals, and learn a little bit of shell biology. Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you might have along the way. No two beach walks are ever the same – the sea has a way of surprising us!
