A Welcome Return

South Seas is now open, and we’re delighted to welcome guests back to our pristine, white-sand shores. This moment marks an important milestone in our work towards rebuilding from the devastation of Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Upon your first visit back to our property, you may notice South Seas looks a little different. While select areas of the resort remain under construction and some amenities may be more limited than you are accustomed to, we continue to make significant progress in our recovery and rebuilding efforts.

From bicycling to walking the shoreline, to simply relaxing and enjoying time with friends and family, new experiences and fond memories await.

We will continue to update this page as we add new amenities and expand our offerings.

Recover & Restore, Better Than Before
South Seas Bayview Pool (Former North Pool)
The Bayview Pool Complex has officially reopened, showcasing breathtaking renovations such as fresh pavers, luxurious cabanas, comfortable loungers, and upgraded landscaping. Immerse yourself in the epitome of relaxation as you lounge by the pool at our newly revitalized bayside resort facility. Be captivated by the sweeping views of Pine Island Sound, offering an incredible backdrop to your leisure experience.
Scoops & Slices
Unfortunately, our family favorite, Scoops & Slices, was damaged beyond repair and will be rebuilt in its new location at the previous Skullywags Kids Camp. We look forward to welcoming guests mid-2024 for pizza, ice cream, and sweet treats.
Golf Course
The Clutch Golf course has undergone a stunning redesign and we are delighted to announce that the renovations are now complete. While we eagerly wait for the greens to mature, we anticipate an opening in early spring. The Clutch is poised to become the perfect place for family memories and refining your swing! Read More
Sunset Beach
Attitudes & Latitudes was completely devastated by the hurricane. Join us for casual beachfront dining at the Shell City Burger food truck located at Sunset Beach, and in 2024, the new Beach House, with increased services for an elevated dining experience. Beach services, such as chairs and umbrellas, are available now.
Shops at South Seas (Former Chadwick’s Square)
The main damage was to the roof, which is being re-shingled. In addition, we are excited about a multitude of new updates, including the most recent opening of Starbucks Coffee with store expansion planned in the future; the relocation of Guest Reception to Chadwick’s Square at the previous spa location; a reimagining of Provisions and Sanibel & Captiva Properties Real Estate Office. We are in touch with retailers to lease stores for a new shopping experience.
Redfish Pass
The protective embankment along the Redfish Pass was completely wiped out and is being reinforced to withstand greater storm surge. We expect that our guests will be back to enjoying walks along the exquisite shoreline very soon.
Eco Focus
As the reimagined resort continues to unfold, South Seas has partnered with local organizations to enhance and protect the island, ensuring a positive environmental impact not just within the boundaries of the resort, but throughout all of Captiva Island. In September 2022, a privately funded Resiliency Study was conducted to provide recommendations to improve the future resiliency of all of Captiva Island. The study focused on stormwater, wastewater, sea-level rise, and increasing storm intensity, with a comprehensive plan to address all environmental issues. Those findings can be read here.
Resort Grounds
Following Hurricane Ian, South Seas faced considerable challenges, with significant damage to all vertical structures, including Harbourside Hotel, office, and service buildings with much of the vegetation around the property had succumbed to the storm surge or saltwater inundation. Despite these setbacks, cleanup efforts are well underway, and we are steadfastly rebuilding the next chapter of our beloved resort. Our Clutch Golf course has undergone a stunning redesign, and although we eagerly await the lush growth of the greens, the Bayview Pool Complex is now completed and open for your enjoyment. Currently, we're in the process of demolishing the Harbourside Hotel, which was unfortunately destroyed during Hurricane Ian. Once transformed, this area will be beautifully landscaped, providing sweeping views of Pine Island Sound. Join us as we embark on this journey to restore and enhance South Seas to its full glory!
