Wedding Guest Itineraries -Destination Weddings in Florida

While weddings are and always will be about the bride and groom (but mostly the bride), ideally, all of the wedding guests will have themselves a great time, too. Well, good news, having a destination wedding in Florida is a great start!

However, because the destination isn’t chosen by the guests, many may be heading to the venue without a clear idea of where they are going or what to do once they get there. For all South Seas weddings, we want guests to arrive prepared. That’s why we’ve created itineraries for every kind of wedding guest, to keep them entertained and to keep the bride and groom stress-free.

So whether you’re a guest hoping for a wedding weekend full of beach relaxation or quality family time, or if you’re ready to turn back the clock on the dance floor, we have some ideas for how to make the most out of your time at South Seas.

The Good Time Brigade

Welcome to South Seas, Party People! Let’s face it, what would weddings be without you guys? Ranging from Friday arrival to Sunday recovery, let’s walk through a stellar weekend.

Friday

Cheers to your arrival! Here are some ways to kick-start your stay. Just don’t forget about the rehearsal dinner or welcome drinks!

  • Bike Rentals: With so many places to socialize around South Seas and the rest of Captiva Island begging to be explored, maneuverability is key. Rent one of our bikes and become the ultimate bar hopper.
  • Tarpon Bar: Time to acquaint yourself with our iconic poolside bar. Enjoy frozen island flavors in your cup and easy island breezes through your hair. Getting warm? Hop in the pool. Today is about Sip, Dip, and Repeat.

Saturday

The morning leading up to the wedding is yours, while we won’t be surprised to see you back at Tarpon, here’s another idea.

  • Fishin’ Time: Whether from the docks of our marina or aboard one of our fishing charters, a day on the water with buddies is the perfect activity to squeeze in before the wedding. Even if you don’t catch anything, time on the water with a cold drink and friends to talk to will feel like success.

Sunday

Easy does it. After what we can only assume was a great wedding, Sunday recovery is of the utmost importance. Ironically, this might be the time to meet up with some of the other groups below for some relaxation.

  • Cabana Rental: A dunk in a pool or the Gulf will do you good. Cabana rentals accommodate up to six people, give you a little bit of privacy, offer nice views, and snacks and sodas will be stocked and ready for you.

Destination Wedding? Time to Relax

Sometimes a destination is just what the doctor ordered. Whether it’s a cure for work burnout, parenting woes, or just a bit too much general stress, a weekend celebrating loved ones with your toes in the sand should help.

Friday

Mmm, deep breathe! We hope that first whiff of ocean air begins to calm the nerves. No rush to get anywhere this afternoon, settle into South Seas’ embrace.

  • The Cove: now open at Captiva Landing, The Cove is a new South Seas pool specifically designed with tranquility in mind. It’s a great first stop to push the worries of home out of mind and slip into some zen-like personal time before wedding activities start. For additional relaxation, be sure to look into cabana rentals The Cove.
  • Easy Bites: Convenience is the name of the game for this group, so you know complicated dining reservations are not on the docket. So tuck into some comfort grub at Redfish Grill, Beach House, or even Shell City Burgers, our beachside food truck.

Saturday

To be clear, no one will blame you for spending the hours before the wedding strolling the shoreline or parked in a beach chair, but just in case you’re looking for something to occupy your mind during a long walk or you prefer some physical activity, here are our choices.

  • Flora Safari: Want to take long walks but keep your brain busy? Think of your nature walks as a plant-life scavenger hunt. Keep your eyes peeled for mangroves, elderberries, beach sunflowers, and more.
  • Fitness Center: For some, their idea of relaxation includes breaking a sweat at the gym. Our Fitness Center is outfitted with new top-tier equipment and open 5am-8pm.

Sunday

Sadly, the weekend is coming to a close. Why not ease back into reality with an excursion that perfectly blends relaxation and a touch of excitement?

  • Seashell Charter Adventure: Hop aboard a boat to journey to some of the most renowned beaches in the world for finding unique and beautiful seashells. The 3-hour tour includes a 30-minute boat ride to and from the destination and two hours for leisurely walks up and down pristine beaches to find yourself a souvenir.

So Much to See, So Little Time

Hey, are you really going to go to Florida and not try to see all the area has to offer? We’ll make this itinerary as quick and simple as possible so you can start filling all the spare hours between wedding festivities.

Friday

It’s go time. While some of Friday will be spent traveling and attending wedding welcomes, there should be time to fit in one major activity.

Sunset Charter: Is it possible to have a bad time on a sunset cruise? Not likely. The charters leaving from the South Seas Marina offer guests a great lay of the land while taking in the scenery, and often result in a glimpse of local wildlife like dolphins and manatees.

Saturday

Calling all early risers. Get a start to the wedding with a sunrise wake-up call so you can do as much as possible before ceremony time.

  • Wave Runner Tour: If you’re part of the “So Much to See, So Little Time” group, then you may have a need for speed. No better way to satisfy that than by booking a tour of the island from the seat of a wave runner.
  • Local Culture: While we’re confident you’ll never get bored at South Seas, we understand that there are things to do off the resort as well. Check out Day 2 of the linked itinerary for information on the surrounding area, like Sanibel Island.

Sunday

You may be tired, but there are still plenty of activities to do post-wedding that you may not be able to do back home!

  • Water Sports: Head down to our shoreline and rent kayaks or stand-up paddleboards, then take to the sea. Both activities are great for feeling an injection of adventure, but can also be taken slowly to appreciate the area.

We Are Family

Not every wedding is kid-friendly, but South Seas always is. So if you happen to be headed to a wedding here with little ones, don’t worry, we have options.

Friday

  • Pool Time and Captiva Landing: After a day of travel with kids or seniors, there’s no need to rush out to do something big, especially with the pool options at South Seas. Enjoy pine island sound views from our Bayview Pools, or to really make your kids’ days, head over to Captiva Landing. Captiva Landing is home to Bottlenose Bay, our water park, and The Gulfstream, our lazy river.

Saturday

  • The Clutch: Rally the family and head over for a quick game of golf before the wedding. Since this course plays fast and is designed for all skill levels, a morning tee time will have you done in plenty of time to get ready for the ceremony. Nothing beats a multi-generational round of golf. No clubs? We have rentals available!

Sunday

  • Hit the Arcade: Another popular spot at Captiva Landing, while Mom, Dad, and the rest of the adult contingent of the family relax by the pool and sip daiquiris, kids can go to our retro arcade and tire themselves out with some pinball, Skee Ball, and other classics.
  • Nature Tour: For families looking to do a bit more exploring, consider taking a wildlife tour, which includes boat rides to the most reliable places to see dolphins, manatees, turtles, and other local residents of the animal kingdom.
