Why should I stay on-site, are there any perks?
You will be hard pressed to find anything more reasonable or convenient. Look into a 2 or 3 bedroom condo and share with friends – this is the most economical and you will have a full kitchen to cook in. Again if you stay off-site you will be charged a daily entry fee to the resort. Also, for rooms reserved under the group block, a daily resort credit will be provided that can be applied against on-site meals and recreation charges. This credit varies by the type of accommodation reserved:
Up to $25/day for 1-bedroom Villas and Guest Rooms
Up to $50/day for 2-bedroom Villas
Up to $75/day for 3-bedroom Villas
The credit will be applied at check-out against applicable charges. Room Credits must be used for on site food/beverage/etc. NOT for your room rate, resort fee or applicable fees and taxes.
Can I stay off-site?
You may, but it is not the preferred way. Captiva Island is a very small island and very isolated. Most homes that are close to the Resort are private and if you rent one you WILL NOT have access to the resort amenities. If you stay off-site, a daily access fee will be charged to get into the Resort. If you stay on the mainland in Fort Myers it is at least a 1 hour drive time to the island and a bridge toll (currently $6) every time you come onto the island.
Is there a fee for parking?
For racers who choose not to stay at South Seas, there will be a $20 per day, per vehicle parking fee. This does not give you access to any resort amenities; restaurants, pools, tennis courts, beach chairs, etc. Parking fee for Hotel Guests is included in the Resort Fee.
If I am staying off-property, can I purchase resort amenity access?
Yes, you may. The cost is $150 plus tax, per person, per day. Please visit the front desk to get your resort wristband. This will give you access to all the restaurants, pools, beaches, beach chairs, beach towels, and tennis courts.
What is your credit card policy?
To ensure South Seas Island Resort facilities are reserved for the exclusive use of our registered guests and members, all payments within the gates of the resort must be made via use of your resort charge cards.
Upon registration, you will be requested to present a photo identification and a form of payment to authorize funds to the resort charge cards. We accept AMERICAN EXPRESS, MASTERCARD, VISA, DISCOVER, and DINERS CLUB. Upon arrival, the credit card will be authorized for the room, resort fee and tax, plus $250 per day for incidentals.
Please note: If a DEBIT CARD is used at check-in, the above authorizations will result in a hold on funds in your account. Guests who choose to use cash are required to PRE-PAY their stay upon arrival, including a $250 per day deposit, which will be applied towards incidental charges. Should you choose to settle your account with a form of payment other than CREDIT CARD, TRAVELERS CHEQUE, or CASH, arrangements must be made PRIOR to arrival.
Can I use my debit card?
Should you use your debit card at check-in, funds utilized for room, tax, resort fee, as well as a $250 per day incidental hold will be withheld from your checking account immediately. Your bank will release the difference between your final bill and funds initially approved after checkout. Please note, this could take between 7 and 21 days depending on your bank, domestic vs. international.
When should I make my reservation?
Make your reservations as soon as possible. There are a limited number of each accommodation type. If you want a beach front accommodation or something close to the race site you should reserve immediately. The property has a 14 day cancellation period, meaning you can cancel without penalty up to 14 days from your arrival date. For rooms reserved within the group block, only a one night deposit is required. Rooms reserved outside the block require a two-night deposit. Will I make the reservations directly with the hotel?
Yes, click on any of the accommodations above and you will receive the negotiated group rates. You will need a credit card to reserve your stay. Again, a one-night deposit will be charged and this is refundable up to 14 days prior to your arrival. If you have general questions please call the resort at +1 239-472-5111.
Is there a resort fee and what does it include?
There is normally a $19/person/night resort fee charged by the Resort. For rooms reserved under the group block the resort fee is a per room fee:
The Resort Fee is paid to the Hotel for the following amenities and services:
Free Parking, Tesla & EV Charging Stations, Tennis Court Fees, Daily Trolley Service throughout the Resort, Resort Pool Complex amenities towels, lounge chairs, Beach (South and Sunset Beach) beach towels and chairs, High- Speed Internet, Fitness Center access, New York Times online, and Resort Activities
Tax rate IS NOT regulated by the hotel – Currently, Federal/State/City/Local taxes – 11% will be added to your final bill for room and resort fee.
In summary your room rate is: The amount listed above plus $19/day per bedroom and 11% tax.
What accommodations are closest to the sailing venue?
Closest rooms to the sailing venue are the Harbourside Marina View Guestrooms and the 2 Bedroom Marina Villas which are located on the North Pointe of the resort. These are within walking distance of the sailing venue. The Guestrooms only have a mini-fridge and do not have cooking facilities. The Marina Villas are equipped with a full kitchen.
The 1/2/3 bedroom Villas (Bayside/Beach/Tennis) are on the South Pointe of the resort. There is a trolley that loops around the resort continually. They will have a trolley in the mornings and afternoons of the event so your wait will not be long. There are stops marked all over the resorts – all convenient to whatever accommodation you choose to stay in. There are bikes and golf carts available (based on availability) for rental for your entire stay (or bring your own bikes). Many local vendors will deliver bikes to your door for your stay for a very reasonable fee. There will be Hobie banquets/parties on both sides of the resort.
Are there private homes available?
Yes, there are over 30 private homes/cottages within the resort. All Homes require a 5 night minimum stay, two night deposit, with 20% off our regular rates. Can I book through Airbnb or a private owner inside the South Seas resort complex?
While you may see units listed through private ownerships, Airbnb or similar leasing agents, same rules apply as to non-guests. There will be no access to amenities unless a $150 resort fee is paid per person, per day, plus 11%.
What is your pet policy?
NO PETS / ANIMALS ALLOWED with the exception of service animals as defined by Title II and Title III of the ADA. Emotional Support Animals do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. A $250 penalty charge will be enforced if an animal is brought onto the property
Am I able to bring my motorhome or RV?
Motorhomes, recreational vehicles, motorcycles or any other 2-wheeled motorized vehicles are not permitted past the Security Entrance. Boats must be docked in either the Yacht Harbour Marina or Bayside Marina, and a fee will be charged.
What are my food and beverage options while staying at the resort?
We have nine food and beverage outlets at the resort, Harbourside Bar and Grill, The Pointe, Scoops and Slices, Sunset Beach Bar, Crooked Snook Tiki Bar, Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grill, Ships Store, Captiva Provisions Company and Starbucks. What are the best ways to get around the island?
South Seas Island Resort spans 2.5 miles from Chadwick’s Square in South Village to North Pointe at the northern tip of Captiva Island. As part of the charm of the resort village, guests are encouraged to park their cars and traverse the resort village by bicycle, golf cart or trolley.
South Seas Trolleys & Transits
The complimentary trolleys offer a fun way to travel around the resort village. The trolleys run continuously between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm, providing service between South Village and North Pointe.
Bikes offer a leisurely way for you and your family to explore South Seas. Travel the resort village on Trek bikes for adults and children. Rentals are available per night or daily through Sunny Island Adventures (located behind Starbuck’s in South Village) and at Sunny Island Adventures (located at North Pointe) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. They can be reached 239-312-4094.
Golf Cart Rentals
One of our guests’ favorites, a golf cart, offers a unique way to get around the island. Both four and six-seat golf carts are available for rent by the day or the week from Sunny Island Adventures (located behind Starbuck’s in South Village) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Golf cart rentals are available to guests 22 and older with a valid driver’s license. Advanced reservations are recommended. For reservations, call 239-312-4094.
